Enquiries regarding your Public sector pension
**Note: The state pension is NOT a public sector pension. This type of pension is an occupational pension provided by a pension fund or scheme for civil servants, local government employees, policemen, teachers, nurses and doctors, and lots more. If you are not sure, ask us whether your pension comes from a public sector source.

Cancellation of a pension
To report the death of a pensioner, write to:

Give them the name and address of the deceased and also the National Insurance Number, which you should be able to find on a bank statement. The number has the format ZN123456C. It is not essential to give them the number.
